Like a gazillion other people before me, I’d always dreamt of writing a book.
As a travel blogger it felt much more achievable, yet it was a steep learning curve accepting the difference between blogger and author.
Words have always been my thing. I love them. I love writing them, reading them and sharing them. I presumed that the leap from blogger to author would be a simple transition… I was wrong.
Telling a story in 2000 words is tough, but something I’ve worked at for the last 18 years. I’m continually studying, researching new techniques, practising and honing my abilities.
You never really ‘master’ writing. You’re always evolving and developing, but it does get easier.
2 years after ‘starting the book’ (there were plenty of periods of nothingness), I finally knuckled down and wrote the book.
It was hard work… much harder than I ever imagined, but now I’m hooked. I’m now working on Book #2. Bigger, better, more descriptive… it will be a doozy.
Looking back on the first book I am my own worst critic. I see every flaw and missed description, but it was an absolute joy to write. Bringing other people along on the journey with me has been such a rewarding experience that I couldn’t NOT write another book (or five).

If you ever doubt your own ability to write a book, don’t! Just take the first step. Telling others that you’re a published author is an amazing feeling, and everyone has a story to tell.
