A Brazilian Roadtrip – Itacaré
Itacaré… a haven for surfers, hikers, ecotourists and beach bums. Touristy, but not too much. It’s the dream location to escape from life’s worries
Brazil is an INCREDIBLE country!
Is it perfect? Absolutely not, but where is?
Brazil is such a huge, diverse country that you could spend years exploring and never get bored. From the massive grey metropolis of Sao Paulo to the tiny little fishing villages of the northeast, Brazil is a traveller’s dream.
Millions of tourists visit Brazil every year for Carnival. The most famous is in Rio, but there are several different, unique Carnivals all over the country. I’ve been to Rio Carnival twice, and in 2020 I’d like to try somewhere else – Salvador, Recife… não sei.
But Brazil isn’t just Carnival. Everywhere you go there’s colour, music, action and adventure.
I’ve lived in Brazil for around a year. I spent much of the time in Rio where there’s rarely a quiet night. Dancing is a huge part of the culture and I’ve attempted to learn the various styles. Forro is the one I want to master (it’s also the easiest style… coincidence?)
I’ve attended several major gigs including Pearl Jam twice and Lollapalooza. The crowds in Brazil are insane! They go absolutely crazy from start to finish and you’ll leave any gig dripping in sweat.
When I return in 2020 I want to get away from the big cities and spend more time at the stunning beach locations. Itacare was maybe my favourite location as it’s an absolute paradise.
Jericoacoara was another perfect destination. I would LOVE to spend a month there, trying all the watersports and taking a million epic photos.
I have too much love for this country.

Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo are both cool, but when you visit Brazil you’ll want to get out of the big cities and soak in some of the stunning culture up north. Today we’re heading to Ilheus
Celebrate National Cachaça Day in style, armed with the knowledge of how to make the perfect caipirinha!
When you move to another country and your best friend comes out to visit, you need to pull out all the stops and show them an awesome time. If that awesome time involves seeing Pearl Jam play twice, even better!
For citizens from UK, extending your Brazil tourist visa can be a stressful experience. How? Where? How much? Here’s everything you need to know.
Have you heard of the Brazil truckers’ strike? Probably not… but it appears to be bringing this country to a slow grinding halt! In just … Read more
Planning a road trip around Brazil can be a real pain in the bum, but with a little forward planning you can skip all the stress and headaches and get stuck into having awesome times.
It’s an unusual feeling indeed: Hiking in Itacaré, and then all of a sudden your girlfriend starts screaming in distress, waving her arms like a lunatic, and yet you have no idea what to do, or how to help her.
In times like these, it’s best to just keep filming.
One month in Brazil… From weird infections to parkour down mountains to setting my flesh on fire, my one month in Brazil has certainly been eventful. Throw in some cheeky caipirinhas during Carnaval and a good bit of wandering, and it’s fair to say I’ve kept myself busy.
